What's Happening at T-Time?
July 2021 - The Town of Eastham has been awarded a grant of $29,800 through the MassDOT Shared Streets and Spaces Program to make a series of improvements at the Town-owned "T-Time" site. The "T-Time Placemaking Project" will create opportunities for expanded public access and recreational use of the vacant 11-acre site through the addition of a walking/biking trail; resurfacing of a former tennis court area for all-ages recreational programming; and placement of picnic tables, bike racks, and directional signs for area businesses and attractions. Grant-funded improvements are designed to be launched relatively quickly, with all work due to be completed no later than December 2021.
May 2021 - Staff from the Town's Department of Public Works (DPW) began work on Monday, May 17 to till and re-seed the T-Time property with grass and wildflowers, with the goal of temporarily restoring the site for passive recreation use by the community. As part of a Local Rapid Recovery technical assistance grant received from the State earlier this year, Town of Eastham Planning, DPW, Recreation & Beaches, and Library staff have been working to develop a plan for temporary, “placemaking”-style site improvements at the property. Staff are applying for competitive grant funds through several sources to support further temporary improvements that could allow for hosting of Recreation and Library programming on site, and additional recreation-style use by the public. These temporary improvements could help test a variety of uses of the T-Time site, which may or may not be incorporated into recommendations for the site's long-term use.
